Richard L. Gay WALTON-Richard L. Gay 62 of RD#2, diedunexpectedly on Saturday evening July 22, 2000 in the Delaware Valley Hospital,Walton. He was born on May 25, 1938 in Ilion son of the late Clyde andDora Hagadorn Gay. Richard was raised and educated in Ilion. When heleft high school he entered the United States Marine Corps where he washonorably discharged in 1958. On September 29, 1963 he married BarbaraHuyck in the Exeter Center United Methodist Church. In 1978 he and hisfamily moved to Walton coming from Richfield Springs. He worked for theS.J. Bailey and Sons Furniture Manufacturers in Walton, retiring in 1998.Dick was a man with strong will and a good sense of values wholoved his family first and foremost. Surviving him besides his wife ofthirty-six years Barbara are two daughters and their husbands; Traci and JohnDilello of Laurens, Dawn and Vern Hall of Gastonia, NC, a brother Clyde Gay ofPort Charlotte, Fl, a sister Florence Gintley of largo, FL, six grandchildrenJonathan, Jordan, Richard and Jenna Rose Dilello of Laurens, Brandi and BrittanySwartout, Zachary Hall all of Gastonia, NC, several nieces, nephews, andcousins.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Melissa Ann Gay in1964, two sisters Jeanine Barin and Ina Sullivan.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am inExeter Center Cemetery, with the Reverend John Young officiating. MemorialDonations may be made to Walton Emergency Squad. Funeral Arrangements arewith the J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs.
