HERKIMER-Richard Hildreth age 86 of Westwood Drive passed away on Wednesday December 28, 2005 in his home.
He was born on November 27, 1919 in Utica, son of the late William D. and Rena Wilson Hildreth. Richard was raised in Middleville and graduated from Middleville High School with the class of 1936. He continued his education at Cornell University graduating with the class of 1942. A veteran of World War II, he served with the US Army Air Corps in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. He was honorably discharged in February of 1946 with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
On November 8, 1947 he was united in marriage with the former Amy Marsters in the Herkimer Reformed Church.
For thirty years Mr. Hildreth was employed by the Niagara Mohawk Company, retiring as District Manager on June 1, 1981.
He had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Herkimer Reformed Church where he was an Elder on its Consistory for many years. He was also a member and Past Master of Herkimer Lodge #423 Free and Accepted Masons and the Niagara Mohawk Retirees Club.
To all who knew him they will always remember real gentleman with a warm smile and caring way. He will be missed by his many friends and especially his family.
Surviving are his loving wife of fifty-eight years Amy, one son William B. and his wife Donna Hildreth of Newburg, a daughter Mary Elizabeth Betsy Hildreth of Herkimer, six grandchildren Kevin and Kelly Hildreth, Tamara McClurg, Sara Gougen and Ronald P. Charles Jr., Amy Johnston, two great grandsons, Justin Pratt and Benjamin Gougen
At Mr. Hildreths request all services and committal will be private and at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Herkimer Reformed Church.
