Obituary

EAST HERKIMER - Rita M. Fudjack age 74 of Pine Grove Road passed away after a long illness on Saturday evening March 10, 2007 in Saint Elizabeths Medical Center , Utica . She had the peace and comfort of her loving family by her side. She was born on June 29, 1932 in Herkimer, daughter of the late John F. and Mary K. Nabinger Wellington. A lifelong Herkimer resident she was educated in Herkimer public schools. For ten years Rita was employed as an assembler for UNIVAC, retiring in 1979. On August 4, 1979 she was united in marriage with Robert F. Fudjack in the town of Herkimer . They shared a loving and devoted union of twenty-six years until he preceded her in death on March 10, 2006. To her family the years hold precious memories of what a special person she was. She was the strength that held them together and was always there for them to lean on in both good times and hard times. Treasured are the memories of the many shopping trips they had taken as well as the enthusiasm she had for any future shopping trips to come. Rita was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family especially her five cherished grandchildren. She filled their lives with happiness and sweet feelings that they will carry in their hearts forever. Surviving are a son, Ronald and his wife Peggy Sanderson of East Herkimer, two daughters, Linda Sanderson of Herkimer, Betty Jones and her husband Jon of Westmoreland, Two brothers, Gerald Wellington of Mohawk, Ronald and his wife Alice Wellington of Herkimer, five grandchildren, Robert Sanderson of Amherst, Ron Sanderson of Herkimer, Nicholas, Nathan and Matthew Jones all of Westmoreland, three brothers-in-law and their wives, John Jack and Joyce Sanderson of Ilion, John and Pauline Fudjack of Vero Beach, FL, Michael and Kathy Fudjack of Steamboat Springs, CO, two sisters-in-law, Shirley Walsh of Utica, along with a sister-in-law and special friend Gladys Hellenbeck of Herkimer several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Robert she was predeceased by four brothers, John, Phillip, Glen, and Robert Wellington and two sisters, Beatrice Wellington and Betty Scanlon. Funeral service will be on Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Wrightson Tongue, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls will officiate. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery later this spring. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made with donations to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. D. Kachare and Dr. K. Chukiert and the entire staff of St. Elizabeths Medical Center for the care and compassion shown to Rita during her stay at the hospital.
