Robert O Beadle's Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Robert O. Beadle, age 85, of Monticello Street passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 29, 2006 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home. He had the comfort of his family at his side. He was born on September 9, 1921 in Ilion the son of the late Howard and Reta Ostrander Beadle. A lifelong area resident he graduated from Richfield Springs High School and was a Magna Cum Laude Class of 1942 Syracuse University. On November 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served with the 42nd Armored Rainbow Division in the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged in 1946 as First Lieutenant Armor. Upon return to civilian life, he took over the family business and served as President/Vice President of the Beadle and Company Inc., Car Dealership in Richfield Springs. He retired in 1972. In December 1942 he married the former Janet Coman she passed away on July 31, 1991 then on August 8, 1998 he married the former Nancy Myers in Cullen. He had a strong belief in God and was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church, Richfield Springs. For many years he was the head of the N.Y.S. Ski Patrol for the local area. Robert enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, bowling and was a member of the Corvette Club. He always had a sense of community first with leadership roles in the Little League and Cub Scouts, and with membership in the Rotary Club. For over 50 years he was a member and Past Master of Richfield Springs Lodge No. 482 Free and Accepted Masons, Ziyara Shrine and a 32 Degree Mason in the Valley of Utica Scottish Rite. Robert will always be remembered as a gentle, caring man who enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He will be greatly missed especially by his family. Surviving are his wife Nancy, a son Robert O. Beadle, Jr. of Richfield Springs, a daughter Catherine Burke of Burlington, VT, grandchildren Kimberly Aldous of Burlington, VT, Jennifer Aldous of Lexington, NC, Brenda Beadle Breen of Saratoga, Christopher Burke, Bridget Howard both of Cedarville, and Cody Daley of Herkimer. Burial office from the Book of Common Prayer with Holy Eucharist will be held on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in St. Johns Episcopal Church, Richfield Springs. The family will be present in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs, on Monday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. to receive relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, the family has chosen memorial donations to Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, The Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Johns Episcopal Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude by saying, God bless the staff and the residents at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home for the love and compassion shown to Bob and his family during his stay. Members of Richfield Springs Lodge No. 482 are asked to meet at the funeral home on Monday evening at 8:00 p.m. for ritualistic services.
