Obituary

LITTLE FALLS- Robert C. Breese, Sr., age 85, of Broat Road, passed away on Thursday morning July 31, 2014 in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. He had the comfort of his loving family at his side. He was born on July 13, 1929 in Herkimer, the son of the late Charles T. and Dorothy L. Edick Breese. A lifelong area resident he was raised in Herkimer and was a graduate of Herkimer High School. In 1950, he married the former Alma May in the United Methodist Church, Herkimer. The Reverend Fred Cotnam officiated. They shared a loving and devoted union for 41 years until her passing in 1991. Mr. Breese worked as an engineer for UNIVAC and Remington Arms in Ilion. He retired in 1975 after thirty years of dedicated service. Bob found peace and closeness to God in the many forests where he loved to hunt and fish. He was the oldest living member of the Hard way Club at Millers Park in Noblesboro. To all who knew him he was a gentle, down to earth man. Any conversation with was straight and to the point, yet you always felt a warmth and friendship whenever you were with him. He will be sorely missed by many especially his cherished grandchildren and great-grandsons. He is survived by his son, Robert Breese, Jr. and his wife Donna of Richfield Springs, a sister, Carole Lowe of Harleysville, PA, two grandchildren, Becky Dysard and her husband Luke of Schenectady, Ryan Dibble and his wife Crystal of Richfield Springs, three great-grandchildren, Ethan Dysard, Aiden and Finn Dibble, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents and wife, Alma, he was predeceased by a brother Kenneth J. Breese in 2005. A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1:00pm in Mohawk Cemetery, The Reverend Ann Zimmerman, pastor of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. There are no calling hours. Expression of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the cemetery.
