Obituary

LITTLE FALLS - Robert C. Eaker, 71, of Willie Lane, town of Manheim, passed away Sunday evening, Nov. 24, 2002, in Faxton Hospital, Utica, with the comfort of his loving family surrounding him. He was born March 31, 1931, son of Margaret Belding Eaker and the late Dwight Eaker. Bob was raised and educated in Fairfield. An honorably discharged army veteran, he served in Korea during the Korean War. On Aug. 5, 1950, he married Freda Congdon in Little Falls. For over 50 years, Bob was a resident engineer for the MacFarland-Johnson Engineering Co. He retired in 1993. After three years of retirement, Bob returned to MacFarland-Johnson where he worked on a part-time basis up until today. He had a strong belief in God and was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the American Legion Post 31, Little Falls, the Oppenheim Seniors and the Pals Club of Little Falls. Bob will always be remembered as a caring and hopeful person who would always be there to help and advise. He loved to build things and always had a project going on. He was full of life, love and laughter. He will be greatly missed by many, especially his family. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Freda; a son, Matthew and his wife Vera Eaker of Addison; his mother, Margaret Eaker of Herkimer; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Stacey Eaker, both of Addison; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his father, a son, Richard Thomas Eaker preceded him in death in 1952. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer. The Rev. Wrightson Tongue, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Herkimer-Little Falls will officiate. Mr. Eaker will then be laid to rest in Middleville Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Oppenheim Seniors. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Members of American Legion Post 31, Little Falls, are asked to meet at the funeral home on Friday evening at 7 for services.
