AMSTERDAM-Robert William Farrington age 48 passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon April 23, 2018 in Ellis Hospital, Schenectady. He had the comfort of his loving family by his side. Robert was born on August 29, 1969 in Herkimer, son of Elizabeth Bernard Farrington and the late Ralph Farrington Sr. He was raised in Herkimer and attended the Herkimer BOCES program. He then moved to Amsterdam where he graduated from the Montgomery BOCES program. From 1983 on, he made his home in the Johnstown-Amsterdam area. To those who knew Bob they would say he was loveable, energetic, caring, quick witted and a spitfire. His activities include bowling, fishing, arts and crafts, going to the movies, entertaining people, shopping and helping in the kitchen. He had a special place in his heart for animals, especially horses and had volunteered, working with the horses at the Saratoga Race Track. He was particularly proud of his book of memories. A book that he kept, showing many of his awards, accomplishments and pictures of the many places that he visited and the many friends he made throughout the years. When he was relaxing you would find him enjoying his favorite ice mocha coffee. Robert had a strong faith in God and attended many Sunday service in the Amsterdam area churches. Robert will be truly missed Surviving are his Mother Elizabeth McConkey of Ilion, the love of his life and fiance Karen of Amsterdam, three brothers, Edward Farrington of Amsterdam, David Farrington and his wife Sara of Central Square, Chester Farrington and his wife Selina of Rio Rancho, NM, one sister, Trudy Anderson of Cody Wyoming, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours for Mr. Farrington will be on Monday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 1:00 pm with Pastor Eugene Kipper of Word Christian Center, Mohawk officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
