HERKIMER - Robert Farrington age 81 of Ridgewood Road entered into eternal rest on Friday Morning March 18, 2004 in Wing Memorial Hospital, Palmer, MA.
He was born on December 18, 1922 in Ilion, son of the late Guy Willard and Hazel Rasbach Farrington. Robert was raised and educated in Herkimer. He went on to Clarkson College where he received a degree in Civil Engineering. An honorably discharged US Army veteran of World War Two, he served in the Pacific Theatre.
For thirty years he was employed with the New York State Department of Transportation, retiring in 1979.
On October 21, 1950 he married the former June Francisco in Liberty. A loving and devoted union of fifty-one years she passed away on December 31, 2001. Since 1950 they had resided in Middleville, Piseco Lake and Herkimer.
Mr. Farrington had a strong belief in God; he was a member of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer and a fifty-year member of Newport Lodge # 455 Free and Accepted Masons.
He was happiest when he was surrounded by his many friends and family, especially the time spent with his daughter Robin and his three grandsons in Wilbraham, MA this past year. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his son, Robert Farrington Jr. of Winston Salem, NC, two daughters and their husbands, Jill and James Robinson of Franklin, NC, Robin and David Cook of Wilbraham, MA, brother and sister-in-laws, Charles and Catherine Francisco of Middletown, CT, four grandchildren Darcy Farrington-Ryan, Thomas Robert Cook, Charles Patterson Cook, Phillip David Cook, several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of your choice.
