ILION-Robert C. Fogerty Sr. "Bud", age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday morning July 27, 2015 at the family summer residence at Canadarago Lake in Richfield Springs. He had the support and comfort of his loving family at his side. He was born on July 14, 1932 in Little Falls, son of the late Leonard and Irene Bova Fogerty. A lifelong area resident he was raised and educated in Little Falls. A veteran of the Korean War he entered the US Army on September 19, 1952 served in Korea and was honorably discharged on August 27, 1954. On April 27, 1957 he was united in marriage with Doris Ann Herringshaw in Saint Mary's RC Church, Little Falls. They shared a loving and devoted union of forty-seven years until her passing on July 26, 2004. For forty years Mr. Fogerty worked as a Pressman and Stir Typer for the Utica Observer Dispatch. He retired in 1993. Bud had a strong faith in God and was a member of Annunciation Church. Ilion. To those who knew him he was a caring, and helpful man who was totally devoted to his family, especially his cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be sorely missed. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara A. Tillinghast and her husband Ken, Lynn Marie White and her husband Joseph all of Ilion, four sons and their wives, Robert C. Jr. and Jackie Fogerty of Hazen, Ak, David Allen and Mary Fogerty of Little Falls, Brian John and Pam Fogerty of the town of Ohio, Steven Lee and Karen Fogerty of Ilion, a sister, Patricia Mallett of Fort Plain, fifteen grandchildren, Jason, Christopher and Sarah Fogerty, Dan, Alex and Samantha Fogerty, Adam, Heath and Kendra Tillinghast, Justin and Jordan White, Meghan, Becky, Michael and Katie Fogerty, eleven great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins along with numerous sister and brother-in-laws of the Herringshaw family. Besides his parents and wife Doris he was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Leonard, Richard and Lawrence Fogerty, four sisters, Irene Fogerty, Mary Claudia, Marilyn Horne and Carolyn Mento and his in laws Joe and Olive Herringshaw. Calling hours for Mr. Fogerty will be on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. At Mr. Fogerty's request a private graveside service will take place at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to Hospice and Palliative Care.
