HERKIMER -Robert W. Lasowski, age 90, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, with his devoted daughter and son-in-law at his side.
He was born on May 10, 1928 in Herkimer a son of the late Benjamin and Mary Strzempek Lasowski. A lifelong Herkimer resident he graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1946. Upon his graduation he enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served until his honorable discharge on March 5, 1948.
On September 15, 1951 he was united in marriage to the former Juliette Thout in St. Joseph Church, Herkimer. They shared a devoted union of over 60 years until her passing on April 12, 2012. Robert was devout catholic and was a member of St. Francis deSales Church, Herkimer. He owned and operated the In & Out Shop in Herkimer. He retired in 2007. Bob also had a great sense of community, having served the town of Herkimer as Councilman and Tax Assessor for many years.
Bob will be remembered as a caring, and gentle man who was devoted to his wife, daughter and granddaughters and great-grandsons. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his daughter, Marianne Stalteri and her husband Daniel, of East Herkimer, two granddaughters and their family, Kahley Kirisits, husband Adam and their son Hudson, Emily Stalteri and David Doolen and son Killian, sisters-in-law, Janine Lasowski, of Alexandria, VA, Mary Betty Hummel of Mohawk, Florence Thout of Deland FL, many, nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, and wife Juliette, his was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Peter Edward and Donald Lasowski, a sister Bernice Nielson, as well as two nephews, B J Dillion and Mark Thout.
The family will be present inn Fenner Funeral Home, Inc. 115 Court Street, Herkimer to received friends and relatives, on Friday evening from 5:00 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 am in Saint Francis deSales Church, Herkimer with the Reverend Mark Cunningham, pastor officiating. Interment will take place next spring in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer.
