MOHAWK – Robert Lowell McCaw, age 93 passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, June 15 at Wynn Hospital, Utica. He was born on December 14, 1930, in the town of Little Falls, son of the late George W. and Helen (Lowell) McCaw. A lifelong area resident, he was raised and educated in Mohawk. Bob then served in the United States Army from 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1958. After the military he worked in maintenance at Mohawk Central School, for over 16 years, retiring in 1993. On July 2, 1966, he married the former Margaret Frances Mack in St Peter and Paul's RC Church, Frankfort. They shared a loving and devoted marriage of fifty-four years until her passing on April 19, 2021. In his leisure time he was active with the Herkimer Ham Radio Club of German Flatts. Bob also enjoyed attending Classis Car Cruises. He was proud of his 1982 Chevette and 1991 Dodge Dakota in which he won countless accolades. He was always the first to arrive at "Cruise Inn by Mike" and "Fat Cats" classic car shows to the point they even had a reserved spot ready for his arrival. Bob was in perfect attendance every week, for the past 12 years. Lastly Bob greatly enjoyed his everyday lunch at Burger King, which the girls of the Herkimer Burger King had waiting for him daily. Bob was a quiet man with a big heart. A friend to all, and affectionally known as everyone's "Uncle Bob". He will be deeply missed. Surviving him are a niece, Sandra Wadsworth and her husband Gary, a great-niece Alyssa Wadsworth all of Ilion and several cousins. In addition, many lifelong friends from the car show community. Bob's family would like to give a special thanks and appreciation to the exceptional nurses of floor 3E at Wynn Hospital for their utmost care and compassion. The family will be present to received friends and relatives on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 7:00pm at Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. A Funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 7:00p.m. Interment with Military Honors will be on Wednesday at 9:00 am in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort.
