Obituary

MOHAWK-Robert E. McPherson Bobby Mac age 73 of Orchard Street, passed away on Sunday afternoon December 28, 2008 in his home. He had the comfort of his loving family at his side. He was born on February 17, 1935 in Mohawk, son of the late Murdock and Dorothy Richardson McPherson. A lifelong area resident he was a graduate of West Canada Valley High School. Following high school he entered the US Army where he served with in the Airborne Division in Hawaii until he was honorably discharged in 1957 attaining the rank of Sergeant. On June 7, 1970 he married the former June M. Klock in Herkimer. They have made their home in Mohawk since that time. Bob was a toolmaker by trade and had worked for General Electric, Chicago Pneumatic, UNIVAC and for ten years with Remington Arms before retiring in 1988. He was a member of the East Herkimer Volunteer Fire Department. Bobby Mac as he was affectionately known, was a respected and accomplished musician. Music was his first love. He had his own band as well as playing for various bands throughout the Mohawk Valleyover the years. In his leisure time he had a special interest cars. He was an avid NASCAR fan and followed his favorite driver Jeff Gordon. To those who knew him they will always remember a warm caring man with a good sense of humor. He was happiest when he was with his many friends and family especially his cherished grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He will be greatly missed. Surviving him are his loving wife of thirty-eight years, June, one daughter, Brenda and her husband Christopher Edick of Mohawk, a sister, Janette Jenkins and her companion Bobby Gray of Salisbury, two grandchildren Nicole Edick and her companion Shawn Peuser, Amanda Edick, his great-granddaughter, Delaney Peuser all of Mohawk, several nieces and nephews, three cousins, Harold, Mark and Keith Fulmer, a god-son Robbie Lynn of Deerfield and his close friend Bob Perry. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father, Vernon Duke Oldfield. Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 10:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. Kenneth Palmer, Chaplain of Alexander Hose Company # 1 Mohawk will officiate. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The McPherson family requests that in lieu of flowers please consider memorial donations to the Alexander Hose Company # 1, PO Box 261 Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
