MIDDLEVILLE- Robert T. Sharp, age 71, of Kanata Street, passed away Wednesday October 30, 2013 in his home. He was born on August 7, 1942 in Herkimer, the son of the late Albert and Lillian Blankenship Sharp. A lifelong area resident Robert attended West Canada Valley Schools. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam and the Air Force during the Gulf War. On November 9, 1968 he married the former Donna Cristiano in Herkimer and shared a devoted union of 42 years until her passing on December 12, 2010. Robert worked at Remington Arms as a machinist retiring in 2002. In his leisure time he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and watching TV. Surviving are a daughter Julie Sharp, a sister, Betsy Warren of Mechanicsville, a granddaughter, Caitlin Sharp , a grandson George Watson both of Middleville, friends David McCluskey of Middleville, Donna LaFrance of Little Falls, several nieces nephews and cousins. Beside his wife and parents he is predeceased by three brothers Jesse, Everett, and James Sharp and two sisters Gladys Graham and Barbara Geissler. Calling hours for Mr. Sharp will be held on Friday morning from 11:00am to 1:00pm in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc. 115 Court Street, Herkimer, a funeral service will follow at 1:00pm with the Reverend Jill Farnham-Us officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery. Members of the Herkimer VFW Post 4915 are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:00am for a ritualistic services.
