MOHAWK-Robert Wm. Stone, Jr. Stoney, age 51, of East Main Street passed away peacefully on Tuesday Evening September 25, 2007 in Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare, New Hartford. He had the comfort of his loving family by his side.
He was born on August 25, 1956 in Little Falls, son of Ida Jane Bohl Harter-Stone and the late Robert William Stone Sr. A lifelong Mohawk resident he was a graduate of Mohawk High School with the Class of 1974. After graduation Robert assisted his father in running the family business, Robert Wm. Stone Collector Cars in Ilion.
He truly enjoyed working on antique and classic automobiles. Over the years he started collecting cars himself as well having the fun of going to antique car shows or Sunday afternoon antique car cruises with friends. He was an avid bowler and had bowled on different leagues. In his leisure time he enjoyed throwing darts and spending time with his friends.
Stoney will always be remembered as a gentle, kind man who left you with feeling of warmth and friendship whenever you were with him. He was a friend to many and will never be forgotten.
Surviving are his mother, Ida Jane, four brothers; James Harter and his wife Marilyn of Phoenix, AZ, Thomas R. Stone and his wife Terry of Oregon, IL, Lawrence D. Stone of Auburndale, FL, Terrance R. Stone and his wife Carol of Mohawk, three sisters, Sharon Ferdula and her husband Joseph of Frankfort, Rebecca J. Young and her husband Christopher of Mohawk, Melissa A. Stone and her companion Nigel Murfitt of Mohawk nieces and nephews; Deborah Lee, Rachel, Lacey and Ariel Harter, John, Jim, Joey, Jessie and Justin Ferdula, Megan, Carmella and Thomas Stone, Jr., Shannon and Terra Stone, Christopher and Robert Young.
Besides his father Robert who died in 1985, he was preceded in death by two nephews, James Alan Harter and Joseph Ferdula.
Funeral service will be on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend William Harkins will officiate. Interment will follow in Mohawk Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
The family requests that in lieu of floral offerings, memorial donations be made to H.A.L.O. (Helping Animals Live Organization) or C.A.P. (Community Animal Protection). Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
