RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Roberta Evelyn Young age 87, a lifelong resident of Hugick Road passed away peacefully due to complications of the flu, on Wednesday February 21, 2018 in Folts Home, Herkimer. She had the support and comfort of her loving family at her side. She was born on August 12, 1930 in Cooperstown, daughter of the late Herbert and Celia Getman Tyler. Roberta was educated in Fly Creek and on April 9, 1950 was united in marriage to Leonard Norris Young in Westerville. In 1958 she and Leonard purchased their dairy farm in Richfield Springs. They successfully operated the dairy farm until 1971 when they retired from dairy business. Roberta was a homemaker as well as a stay at home mom. Her family was first and foremost in her life. Mrs. Young was a loving, caring and helpful lady. In the two and a half years at Folts Home she was fondly referred to as The Mayor of the Fourth Floor. She was always looking in on her friends and would often gather them together for a walk down the hall. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and staff at Folts. She is survived by a son Duane Young and his wife Amy of Richfield Springs, six daughters, Kathleen Taylor of Richfield Springs, Susan Sullenburger and husband Scott of Lakleland, FL, Nancy Cook and husband Jim of Oneida, Janet Banks of Richfield Springs, Dawn Seamon and husband Rex of Richfield Springs and Eileen Yaworski of Richfield Springs, eighteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Beside her parents and husband Leonard she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Robert Tyler. Mrs. Youngs family will be present to receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 2:00 until 3:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs. A funeral service will follow immediately after at 3:00 pm in the funeral home with the Reverend Alan Miller officiating. Interment will take place later this spring in Springfield Center Cemetery at a time to be announced. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Cedarville Volunteer Fire Department or the Cedarville Ambulance Corps. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
