HERKIMER-Rose Mary Rockwell (Rosie) age 66 of State Highway # 28 passed away peacefully on Friday morning April 30, 2010 after an extended illness. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side.
She was born on December 6, 1943 in Mohawk, daughter of the late Kenneth S. and Rose Mae Mickle Klock. A lifelong Herkimer resident, she was a graduate of Herkimer High School with the class of 1961
On July 31, 1965 she was united in marriage to Ronald L. Rocky Rockwell at the Herkimer First United Methodist Churchparsonage. The Reverend Fred Cotnam officiated.
For twenty-seven years Mrs. Rockwell worked as a purchaser and cashier at the Herkimer County Community College Bookstore. She retired in 2002.
In her leisure time she found great pleasure playing bingo. But for those who knew her best can attest, her greatest joy was being a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. As a friend to many, she will always be remembered for her caring and hopeful manner. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her husband of forty-four years, Rocky, three sons Matt V. Rockwell of MA, Roger Rockwell of Little Falls, Kenneth Rockwell of Frankfort, two brothers Howard Buster Klock of East Herkimer, Kenneth Klock and his wife Joyce of Surry, ME one sister, June McPherson of Mohawk, two grandchildren, Troy Rockwell and his companion Rachel Brown of Herkimer, Kara Rose Rockwell of Forrestport, one great grandson, Lucas John Rockwell, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers William Klock, Vernon Klock, James Klock and a sister Sharon Herringshaw.
Funeral service will be on Friday at 11:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. The Reverend Janet Gleason, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 until 8:00 pm.
