RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Rose M. Serbanewicz age 97 formerly of South Street, West Winfield passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon May 23, 2013 in Valley Health Services, Inc., Herkimer. She was born on July 4, 1915 in Hartwick, daughter of the late Felix and Lucy Soban Janiec. Rose was raised in Detroit where she graduated high school. On September 1, 1934 she was united in marriage with Anthony J. Serbanewicz in Saint Josephs Church, Richfield Springs. They shared a blessed and loving union of thirty-nine years until his passing in January of 1974. Mrs. Serbanewicz had a strong belief in God and was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in West Winfield. To all who knew Rose, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was always there for them in good times to share their joy and in bad times to console them. Her leisure time was spent listening to music and spending time with her many friends and family. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are her four daughters, Arlene Griffin and her husband Arthur of Melbourne, FL, Geraldine Petroff and her husband Thomas of Cape Vincent, Phyllis Lippitt and her husband Gregory of Cooperstown, Lucille Miller of Cape Canaveral, FL, one sister Josephine Cotton of Fort Herkimer, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband Anthony she was preceded in death by a sister Eleanor Kroll. A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Serbanewicz will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 am in Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Richfield Springs. Interment will follow in Saint Josephs Cemetery, Richfield Springs. At Mrs. Serbanewiczs request there are no calling hours.
