Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Rose Mary Stringer age 87 passed away on Thursday morning October 15, 2015 in Valley Health Services, Inc., Herkimer. She was born on November 19, 1927 in Decatur, daughter of the late Louis and Mary Geizer Bobnick. She was raised in Milford and was a graduate of Milford Central High School. On October 14, 1956 she was united in marriage with Murel Stringer in Cooperstown. They shared a loving and devoted union of thirty one years until his passing on February 24, 1988. Mrs. Stringer was employed as the Assistant Manager of the nutrition program for Otsego County. She retired in August of 1995. Rose Mary had a strong faith in God and was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker RC Church in Richfield Springs. She stood proud as a Gold Star Mother and was active in the Gold Star Mothers, Utica; she was a life member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post # 616, Richfield Springs and a life member of the Edwin H. Key Sr. Disabled Veterans Unit # 178 in Poland. To those who knew her she was a loving, caring and helpful lady, always ready to do for others while looking for nothing in return. She will be truly missed. Rose is survived by Tina Smith and her husband Blaine of Keystone Heights, FL, Michael Stringer and his wife Victoria of Richfield Springs, Albert Stringer and his wife Amy of Derby, Louis Stringer and his wife Dianne of Virginia Beach, VA, , nine grandchildren, DeShawna, Ryan, Brendan, Ashten, Steven, Randy, Davina, Lavada and Dylan, six great-grandchildren, Judson, Mack, Peightyn, Carter, Roslynn and Taylor, one brother, Louis Bobnick of Cooperstown,three sisters, Irene Baar of Kalma, WA, Helen Polanis of Buena Park, CA, Mary Jane Chapman of Stanton, CA, Besides her parents and husband Murel, she was preceded in death a daughter Catherine Stringer, US Navy who tragically died on February 11, 1978. Calling hours for Mrs. Stringer will be on Wednesday from 11:00 am to 2:00pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home. The Reverend David Simonds will officiate. Interment will be in Saint Josephs' Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Richfield Springs Emergency Squad. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Calling Hours J.
