RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Rosemarie Slocum, age 78, of Monticello St., entered into eternal rest on Friday morning, May 16, 2003 in St. Luke's Nursing Home.
She was born on September 1, 1924 in Frankfort, daughter of the late John A. and Mary Kipper Trois. A resident of Richfield Springs since 1939, she was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School, "class of 1941". She then went on to the Rochester Business Institute graduating on August 14, 1942. On May 16, 1943, she married Donald Slocum in St. Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs. A loving and devoted union of 52 years, Mr. Slocum predeceased her in death on November 14, 1995.
During World War II, Rosemarie had worked for the Remington Arms Company in Ilion and then for the Richfield Springs Dress Company. For 25 years, she was a bookkeeper for Suburban Propane in Richfield Springs, retiring in 1985. She was a member of St. Josephs Church, Richfield Springs and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Post # 616, Richfield Springs. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family, especially her five grandchildren.
Rosemarie leaves a daughter, Donna and her husband Duane Puckett of Yellow Springs, OH; two sons and their wives, Terry and Diane Slocum of New York Mills, Greg and Christine Slocum of Liverpool; five grandchildren, Heather and Jerry Patrick, Jeff Barnhart, Brett, John and Louis Slocum, a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Margaret Slocum of Sylvan Beach and their children.
Besides her parents and husband Donald, a brother Louis Trois predeceased her in 1990.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs, Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Terence Healy will officiate. Committal will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Richfield Springs Emergency Rescue Squad. Envelopes will be available at the church. Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs.
