HERKIMER-Ross Innes age 91 of Nathan Galinsky Apartments formerly of Marshall Avenue, Mohawk entered into eternal rest on Tuesday January 4, 2005 in Little Falls Hospital.
He was born on November 17, 1913 in Mohawk, son of the late Wallace and Katie Lewis Innes. A lifelong area resident he was a graduate of Mohawk High School. Ross was an honorably discharged US Army veteran of World War II. He served with the Eighth Armored Division in Normandy, Rhineland, Northern France and Central Europe receiving four bronze service stars for the afore mentioned campaigns.
Upon his return to civilian life Mr. Innes worked as a carpenter for various building contractors in the area as well as working as a self-employed carpenter. He retired in 1978.
He was a member of the Mohawk United Methodist Church, Mohawk Lodge Free and Accepted Masons and Crowley-Barnum American Legion Post # 25, Mohawk.
Surviving are one brother Lewis Innes of Herkimer, one niece, three nephews, three great nieces and two great-great nephews.
Besides his parents a sister, Susan Harkins, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be on Saturday at 11:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Deborah Wollaber, Pastor of Morning Star Ministries will officiate. Interment with military honors will be held later this spring. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Saturday morning one hour prior to the funeral service (10:00 to 11:00 am). Expressions of sympathy may be made with donations to the Mohawk United Methodist. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
