BURLINGTON FLATS-Russell Glenn Schermerhorn 57 of Richfield Springs passed away Monday august 17, 2015 of a long time illness. Russell was born August 16, 1958 to Carlton Schermerhorn and Dorothy Leedon in Tampa Florida. Russell went to school in Edmeston. He lived in Oneonta and Burlington Flat. He owned and operated Schermerhorns Landscaping until retiring in 2012. Russell enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by 2 daughters Brenda Stegen and her companion Kevin Crossman of Burlington Flats, Kayla Schermerhorn of Burlington Flats, his former wife Betty Schermerhorn of Richfield springs, his friend Barry Abrams of Richfield Springs, and his brother john lives in Greenville, 1 sister Glenda Schermerhorn of Saint Johnsville 3 brothers Carl and Debbie Schermerhorn from Gloversville, Harry and Sheila Schermerhorn of Richfield Springs, John Schermerhorn from Saint Johnsville, 5 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours for Mr. Schermerhorn will be on Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs. A funeral service will follow immediately after at 12:00 noon.
