RICHFIELD SPRINGS, N.Y. - Ruth Casalere, age 85, of US Highway #20, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, November 20, 2010, in her home. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side. She was born on April 6, 1925, in Dolgeville, daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth Dunderdale Nickerson. Ruth was raised in Dolgeville and was a graduate of Dolgeville High School, class of 1945. She furthered her education, graduating from the Utica School of Commerce. For ten years, she worked for Oneida County as a case examiner. She retired in 1955. On August 9, 1951, she was united in marriage with Rocco Vincent Casalere in Utica. They shared a loving and devoted union of forty-one years until his passing in August of 1992. Mrs. Casalere had a strong belief in God and was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Church, Richfield Springs. She was also a member of the Richfield Springs Quilting Club that meets at the Church of Christ Uniting, making quilts to be donated to St. Judes Childrens Hospital and other various hospitals throughout our area. In her leisure time, Ruth enjoyed painting, sewing and quilting. To her many friends and family, she will always be remembered as a caring, generous and hopeful person. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are her two sons, Vincent and James Casalere, both of Richfield Springs; three nieces, Roberta Rayon, Carla Denise McNay and Pauline Kidd; and two nephews, Paul Nickerson and Robert Nickerson, Jr. Besides her parents and husband, Rocco, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Nickerson and Harry Nickerson, Jr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Joseph the Worker Church, Richfield Springs. The Reverend Terence Healy, Pastor. will officiate. Interment will follow in Saint Josephs Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to Saint Judes Childrens Hospital or the Siegenthaler Center. Envelopes will be available at the church. Funeral arrangements are with J.
