Salvatore DiGiacomo MIDLOTHIAN,VA-Salvatore DiGiacomo 91 of North Spring Run Road died on Tuesday morningAugust 8, 2000 in Chippemham Medical Center, Richmond, VA.
He was born on July 16, 1909 inBrooklyn, NY son of the late Marco and Philoemena Bevilaqua DiGiacomo. As ayoung boy Salvatore came to Utica where he lived at the Masonic Home. Hegraduated from Utica Free Academy and went on to Syracuse University wheregraduated with a degree in Architecture. On September 2, 1939 he married WandaOsterhout in the Sarah Hill Wiley Memorial Chapel at Round Lake, NY. Fortwenty-five years Mr. DiGiacomo worked as an architect for the United StatesDepartment of State in various embassys, retiring in 1971. A resident of theWashington, DC area since 1942, he and his wife lived in Kensington, MD until1995 when they moved to Midlothian, VA and have resided there since.
He was a member of Christ EpiscopalChurch, Kensington, MD and a sixty year member of Utica Lodge # 47 F&AM.Mr. DiGiacomos greatest pleasure was art, he spent his leisure time paintingwith pastels and oils doing portraits and landscapes.
Surviving besides his beloved wife offifty-nine years Wanda are a daughter; Sally and her husband David William Zuckof Midlothian, two grandchildren Captain Jesse William Zuck (US Army) and hiswife Stephanie of Oahu, Hawaii, Alice Elizabeth and her husband Patrick Revereof Midlothian, VA several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in deathby a brother Joseph DiGiacomo and two sisters Julia Pennisi and Helen Fernicola.
Funeral service will take place onSaturday at 11:00 AM in J. SEATON McGRATH FUNERAL HOME, 40 West James Street,Richfield Springs. The Reverend John Dixon Bartle rector of Saint JohnsEpiscopal Church, Richfield Springs will officiate. Interment will follow inLakeview Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receiverelatives and friends one hour prior to the funeral service(10:00 to 11:00 AM).Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Disease and Related DisordersAssociation, 70 East Lake Street, Chicago, IL 60601.
