HERKIMER-Sarah (Sally) Wood Folts, age 99, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Lutheran Home in Clinton. Daughter of Mary Gunn and John Rogers Wood, she was born in Utica on September 4, 1911. She graduated from Herkimer High School in 1929 and worked at the First National Bank until her marriage to Burr C. Folts on August 29, 1936 in Albany. Following residence in New Jersey, Maryland, and Ohio the couple returned to Herkimer in 1945, living at 422 N. Caroline Street. They moved to East Aurora in 1962. Burr preceded her in death on April 19, 1995. Her brother, John R. Wood Jr. also preceded her in death. Sally had been a member of the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church and was a former member of the Herkimer Reformed Church where she served as President of the Womens Association. She was a member of the Myrtle Chapter of the Eastern Star and a member of the Federated Garden Clubs of New York State since 1946. Survivors include her son John Burr Folts and his wife Cynthia Warrick of Spring Island, SC and Water Mill and her daughter Mary Lynne and her husband Dr. Richard H. Bennett of Skaneateles; a grand-daughter Alexandra Gunn Bennett and her husband Dr. Ronald G. Cantor of Fayetteville and two great grand-daughters, Katharine and Julia. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Herkimer with a private graveside service to be led by Pastor Mark Andersen of the Herkimer Reformed Church. Donations may be made in her memory to the Herkimer Reformed Church, 102 Church Street, Herkimer, NY 13350. Arrangements were made by the Fenner Funeral Home, 115 Court Street, Herkimer.
