Sera Klisch RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Sera Klisch, age 96, of Route 28, passed away on Thursday afternoon, November 15, 2001 in her home.
She was born, on August 14, 1905, Brunry, Poland, daughter of the late John and Anna Potocky. Sera was raised and educated in Europe. She came to this country in 1929 and became a U.S. citizen. She was married to Harry Klisch, who died on October 14, 1966. For 25 years, she and her husband owned and operated Harry's Restaurant on Route 28 in Richfield Springs, retiring in 1964. Sera's life revolved around her family and friends. Her love for cooking was legendary. Harry's Restaurant was known far and wide as a great place to eat. Flowers were abound both in and out of her home. Exchanging flowers with friends seemed like a pleasant tradition of her adopted homeland.
Surviving her are a daughter, Mabel and her husband, Gerald E. Deal, of Stanley, NY; four grandchildren, Lee (Kathy) Young, Barbara (Joe) Soldovieri, Jim (Karen) Young and Ray (Christy) Deal; seven great-grandchildren, Brian and Kevin Young, Christopher and Sara Soldovieri, Stephanie and Henry Young and Elizabeth Deal; a nephew, Andrew and a niece, Mary Klisch, and their son, John; a sister-in-law, Jaroslawa Kliszcz and their son, Nick along with deceased sons, John and Ted.
Funeral from J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs, on Monday at 9:15 a.m. and will process to Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 305 Main Road, East Herkimer where services will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the Very Reverend James Jadick, officiating. Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Cemetery. Calling hours on Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. Parastas will be held at 4:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
