SPRINGFIELD CENTER - Sharon Lee Wells, 48, of State Highway 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2002, in her home after a long illness.
She was born Sept. 17, 1953, in Herkimer, daughter of the late Romaine A. and Florence Phillips Wells. Sharon was raised in East Herkimer and was a graduate of Herkimer High School. For many years she worked as a paralegal for various law firms throughout the area, most notably William Calli, Attorney at Law in Utica. All that knew her witnessed an adventuresome spirit and a zest for life itself. In more recent years, she drove tractor-trailer for Swift Transportation Co. She traveled the entire United States and parts of Canada. While on the road she visited every National Football League stadium in this country. She retired in 1996.
A Springfield Center resident since coming from Herkimer in 1986, her leisure time was spent riding motorcycle with her life mate, Raymond Charles Guyer; they traveled from coast to coast.
Sharon will always be remembered as a loving, caring and hopeful person. She will be greatly missed by many.
Surviving her are her life mate of 16 years, Ray of Springfield Center; her extended family, Ashley Sikkema of Springfield Center, Samantha Augur of Cooperstown, Donna Countryman of Fort Plain, Cathy Tabor of Cobleskill, Dayle Evans of Springfield Center, her best friend, Beth Gregory of Colorado Springs, Colo.; her loyal friends, Boots and Tigger; several nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous relatives throughout the Mohawk Valley.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 W. James St., Richfield Springs. The Rev. Alan Miller, pastor of the Bible Baptist Church, Richfield Springs, will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to the ASPCA, Cooperstown. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
