HERKIMER, N.Y. Shirley A. Hale, age 59, of North Main Street, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2011, in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown.Shirley was born on June 13, 1951, in Ilion, daughter of the late George and Margaret Andrews Hale. A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of Ilion High School. Shirley worked at the Herkimer County Office Building and McDonalds on the New York State Thruway as a housekeeper, retiring in 1998. Shirleys favorite past time was grooming horses along with collecting Elvis memorabilia, miniature unicorns, and had a extensive collection of Indian lore. She had a keen interest in history and participated in Civil War reenactments with the New York State 5th Cavalry. To all that knew her, they will remember her warm smile. She was a friend to many and will never be forgotten.Surviving are a daughter, Christina Scheiderich, of Herkimer; a sister, Sybil Jones, of Lawrence, KS; a granddaughter, Amanda Grace Scheiderich, of Herkimer; and a special friend, Carol Springer, of Herkimer.Funeral service will be Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. Pastor Eugene Kipper, Pastor of The Word Christian Center, Mohawk, will officiate. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the funeral service from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.
