Obituary

Richfield Springs - Shirley M. Nalaskowski, age 72, of State Highway #28 entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 1, 2004 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. She was born on January 20, 1931 in Ilion, daughter of the late James and Julia Hectus VanAlstine. A lifelong area resident, she was raised in Ilion and was a graduate of Ilion High School. On July 29, 1961 she married William Edward Nalaskowski in the Annunciation Church, Ilion. She and her husband had resided in Millers Mills until 1990 when they moved to Richfield Springs. Mrs. Nalaskowski had a strong belief in God and was a member of Saint Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs. In her leisure time she enjoyed sewing and took pride in the many dresses and outfits that she created. She was a friend to many and will never be forgotten. Surviving are her beloved husband of 42 years, William; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral from J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs on Monday at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs at 10 a.m. Mrs. Nalaskowski will be laid to rest in Saint Joseph's Cemetery later this spring. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Richfield Springs Emergency Rescue Squad or the Schuyler Lake Rescue Squad. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
