Shirley A. Schorer, age 80, of Rome and formerly of Ilion, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Bethany Gardens Skilled Living Center.  At the time of her passing she had the comfort of her family by her side.

Shirley was born on July 2, 1945, in Ilion the daughter of the late Robert and Annabelle (Lucas) Nelson.  She was raised and educated in Frankfort where she graduated from Frankfort/Schuyler High School.  On August 31,1963, she was united in marriage to Stanley Mayack in United Methodist Church, Frankfort, a union of 41 years.  Stanley passed away January 17, 2004.  Shirley was then blessed to have Steven Schorer in her life and they married on October 15, 2005, a loving and devoted union of 20 years shared together.  Shirley was employed Fleet Bank/Bank of America where she worked as a bank teller in several of the branches in the area.  She retired in July of 2007, after 20 years of faithful service.

After Shirley's retirement her and Steve sold their home and started RVing across the US.  Both her and Steve enjoyed their trips and traveling different parts of our beautiful country.  She also was an avid bowler, and she loved helping others through Habitat for Humanity.

Shirley is survived by her husband Steven, daughter Lisa Cox, Frankfort, sons Joseph Mayack and his wife Brenda, Frankfort, Michael Mayack, TN, grandchildren Amee Johnson, Ilion, Michael Mayack and Norma Mayack, both of TN, along with several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her sisters Virginia Hoage, Florence Schrider and Margaret Beckwith.

The family will be holding a memorial service on Saturday, January 17, 2025 at 10AM from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 8650 Turin Road, Rome, NY after the holiday at a time and date to be announced.
