HERKIMER-Shirley Zabry age 68 of Harter Street entered into eternal rest on Saturday evening August 30, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer. She had the comfort and support of her loving family with her at the time of her passing.
She was born on March 7, 1935 in Ilion, daughter of the late Carl and Anna Frank Oram. A lifelong area resident she was educated in Ilion Schools. On September 15, 1984 she married Keith Zabry in the First United Methodist Church Ilion. Shirley was a dedicated mother and homemaker with a very giving and nurturing way about her. She had a strong belief in God and led a devoted Christian life as a member of the First Baptist Church, Herkimer. Mrs. Zabry was happiest when she was with her friends and family especially her eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She will always be remembered as a loving and caring person and will be truly missed.
Surviving are her husband of eighteen years Keith, two sons and their wives James and Mary Beach of Ilion, John and Paula Dygert of East Herkimer, two daughters Cindy and her husband Frank Trevor, Sandy Foti all of Herkimer, one brother Carl Oram of Frankfort, two sisters Virginia Wood of Ilion, Darlene Okusko of FL, eleven grandchildren, Mindy, James, Tabatha, Vera, Nicole, Amanda, Courtney, Kyle, Alexander, Michaeline and Courtney, along with ten great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents a brother Walter Oram and a sister Carol Foley preceded her in death..
Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 10:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend David Kirkpatrick, Chaplain of the Masonic Home, Utica will officiate. Mrs. Zabry will be laid to rest in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives friends on Tuesday (today) from 5:00 until 8:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
