Obituary

FRANKFORT - Stanley J. Mayack Jr., 60, entered into eternal rest on Saturday morning, Jan. 17, 2004, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. He was born Jan. 15, 1944, in Ilion, the son of the late Stanley J. and Gladys (Bowie) Mayack. A lifelong area resident, he was raised and educated in Frankfort/Schuyler. On Aug. 31, 1963, he married Shirley Nelson in the Frankfort United Methodist Church. As a young man he worked in Mohawk Valley General Hospital and was head of the maintenance and housekeeping departments at the age of 25. During this time he also worked part-time for the Frankfort Police Department. He drove bus for over 40 years and for 17 years was employed with Union Fork and Hoe. Stanley was a hardworking man, a loving husband, caring father and grandfather and will be sadly missed. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, especially his 1937 Ford that he had owned for 40 years, and he also drove stock cars. He had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Frankfort United Methodist Church. He held membership with the Frankfort PBA and the Ilion Moose Club. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; two sons, Joseph and Michael, all of Frankfort; two daughters, Lisa Mayack of Van Hornesville and her fianc John Cox, and Jacklyn Reed and her husband Christopher of Mohawk; four grandchildren, Amee Mayack of Van Hornesville, Michael and Norma Mayack of Ilion and Christopher Reed Jr. of Mohawk; two sisters and their husbands, Dorothy and Wayne Pritchard of Frankfort and Linda and Richard Renodin of Utica; sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Lewis Hoage of Frankfort and Florence and Harold Schrider of Mebane, N.C.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Feb. 1, at noon in the Frankfort United Methodist Church. Memorial donations may be made to the church. Envelopes will be available. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home, Herkimer. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Special Care Unit and Intensive Care Unit of St. Elizabeth Medical Center along with the second floor staff of Mohawk Valley Nursing Home for the care and compassion to Stanley and his family during his stay as a patient.
