JORDANVILLE-Stephen Dolhun Jr. age 61 passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday afternoon August 9, 2016 in his home. He had the comfort of his family and support of his loving daughter Christina at his side. He was born on April 21, 1955 in Herkimer, son of the late Stephen and Jessie Donyluk Dolhun. A lifelong Jordanville resident he was a graduate of Owen D. Young High School. On July 27, 1975 he enlisted in the US Marine Corps. He served with the 3rd Marine Division in Okinawa. He was honorably discharged on May 5, 1979 attaining the rank of Corporal. Mr. Dolhun first worked for Paul Sarafin at Harters Silos where he built silos. He later worked as a truck driver for Sun Belt Industries in Little Falls retiring in March of 2009. He was a member of the Marine Corps League. He was compassionate about the care of animals, he enjoyed shooting his gun and he cherished being in the company of his family and friends. Surviving him are his daughter Christina Hoyt and her husband Robert of Ilion, a brother Richard Dolhun and his wife June of Richfield Springs, a sister, Shirley Mower and her husband Edward of Jordanville, three nieces and two nephews. He is also survived by his longtime companion and friend Stephanie Bowolak and his cats; Critter and Molly. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, David Dolhun. Calling hours for Mr. Dolhun will be on Saturday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs. A funeral service will follow immediately after at 2:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment with military honors provided by the US Marine Corps will be in Highland Rural Cemetery, Jordanville.
