Richfield Springs - Steven John Petriski, age 79, ofParmwood Road, passed away on Friday night, August 31, 2001 in his home after along illness.
A lifelong area resident he was born on January 9, 1922 inMarcy, son of the late Roman and Mary Senata Petriski. In 1932 he and his familymoved to the town of Warren where they owned and operated the Bluebird MeadowsDairy Farm. He was a graduate of VanHornesville High School. During World War IIhe answered the call of his country by enlisting in the US Army. He served inthe European Theatre and was awarded the Purple Heart. After being honorablydischarged from military service he returned to Warren and along with hisbrother Michael eventually took over the operation of the family dairy farm. OnJuly 5, 1952, he married Evelyn Frazier in Saint Josephs Church, RichfieldSprings. They have resided on the family farm to this day. Mr. Petriski with hisson, Steven Jr., was still active in the running of the farm until this pastyear.
He was a member of Saint Josephs Church, Richfield Springsand the Hugick-Purcell and Shepardson American Legion Post #616 RichfieldSprings. Steven was a friend to many and will never be forgotten.
Surviving besides his loving wife of forty-nine years, Evelynare a son, Steven J. Petriski Jr. and his wife Beverly; one daughter Mary JoSmith all of the town of Warren; a sister, Mary Ablamski of Rosedale; twogranddaughters, Sarah and Anne Petriski of Warren, several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers,Joseph Petriski in 1992, Michael Petriski in 1993; three sisters, Ann Eichner in1987, Kate McKean in 1992 and Josephine Petavs in 2000.
Funeral service from J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home,40 West James Street, Richfield Springs on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. A Mass ofChristian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Josephs Church, RichfieldSprings at 10:20 a.m. with the Reverend Alfred Lamanna officiating. Intermentwill follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
The family will be present in the funeral home to receiverelatives and friends on Monday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
