RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Sue Pierson, age 91, of County Hwy #22 passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, June 12, 2013 in Bassett Healthcare Cooperstown. She was born on September 4, 1921, in Utica, a daughter of the late John and Ava Karwacz Dec. She was raised in Utica and attended Holy Trinity School.On October 19, 1946, she married Vincent Pierson in Utica.They shared a loving and devoted union of forty-seven years until his passing on May 27, 1993. For fifteen years she was employed with UNIVAC in Utica retiring in 1974. Sue had a strong belief in God and was a devoted member of St. Joseph the Worker, Richfield Springs.In her younger years she enjoyed bowling.She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting sharing many of those crafted items with friends and family. She will always be remembered as a caring and helpful person who put the needs of others before herself.She will be greatly missed. Surviving are two sons. Robert Pierson and his wife Karen of Baton Rouge, LA, David Pierson of Richfield Springs, one granddaughter, Jennifer Contreras and her husband Braulio of San Antonio, TX, one grandson, Gregory Pierson and his partner, Rosetta Lee, of Settle, WA, two great granddaughters, Caitlin and Amelia Contrerasof San Antonio, TX, a sister Helen Carillo of Candor, many nieces, and nephews. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at11:30am in St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Richfield Springs. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Richfield Springs. There are no calling hours.
