Obituary

ILION – Susan Anne Nesbitt, age 69, formerly of Richfield Springs, passed away peacefully on Monday evening February 5, 2023, at the Grand at Mohawk Valley. She was born on March 29, 1954, in Amsterdam, NY. A daughter of Anne (Kretser) Swank of West Burlington and the late John Swank. She was raised and educated in Cooperstown, NY. In 1970 Susan made her dedication to Jehovah God and symbolized that by water baptism. She was married to Gordon Nesbitt in 1972 until his untimely death in May of 1981. Susan was a homemaker who found simple pleasures in life. She enjoyed her home and family time, especially dining out. Her grandsons were a great pride and joy to her and she loved playing cards with them. She was known as being happy and optimistic. She enjoyed dancing and singing. She was especially fond of Kenny Roger's music. She fondly talked about her personal invitation/back stage pass with him after a concert she had attended with her daughter and cherished the photo of them together. Even while living in the nursing home the past few years she continued to share her faith and kindness with others. Susan will be sadly missed. Surviving are her mother, Anne Swank of West Burlington, two sons and their wives, David J. and Sarah Nesbitt of Utica, Michael J. and Adrian Nesbitt of Edmond OK, one daughter Rebecca Burton and her husband Eric of Middleburgh, two cherished grandsons, Benjamin and Samuel Nesbitt, three sisters and their husbands, Linda and Phil Paddock of Oneonta, Lorriane and James Briggs of West Burlington, Chris and Tim Lord of Edmeston, and several nieces and nephews. A service will be held on Saturday February 17, 2024, at 3:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 585 Trenton Road, Utica. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home, Inc, Herkimer.
