RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Susan Mary Wood age 53 of East James Street, passed away on Friday morning July 18, 2014 in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side. She was born on January 22, 1961 in Cooperstown, daughter of James Patrick and Hazel Steenburg. A lifelong Richfield Springs resident she received her education at Richfield Springs High School. Upon finishing high school, in 1978 she enlisted in the United States Army. After her military service she became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked independently as a Home Healthcare Worker, retiring in 2006. Susan was a member of the Richfield Springs American Legion Post # 616 Ladies Auxiliary. In her leisure time she was an enthusiastic Miami Dolphins football fan, she enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and snowmobiling with her family and companion Mitch Bulger. To all who knew her she was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family especially her cherished grandchildren. She will be sorely missed. Besides her parents James Patrick and Hazel Steenburg she is survived by a son Randy Steenburg Jr. and his companion Mirissa Llewellyn, two daughters' Sarah Doyle and her husband Kenneth, Kayla Steenburg and her companion Kyle Edwards all of Richfield Springs, three grandchildren, Jazmine Steenburg ,Brooke Anderson, and Baby Doyle on the way. Her devoted companion of eighteen years Mitchell William Bulger and his children, Jeremy Bulger and Rochelle Tretler,two living brothers Michael Schell and his wife Maureen of Herkimer, and Micheal Patrick of Schyler Lake. One deceased brother Randolf Patrick and his wife Lisa Partick of Indiana, and one sister Debra Laveck and her companion Thomas of Richfield Springs and many step brothers and a step sister. As well as many Nieces and Nephews. Susan's family will be present to receive friends and relatives in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, followed by a celebration of her life at the Genesee Tap Room on Lake Street. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Jazmine Steenburg ,Brooke Anderson and Baby Doyle Trust Fund in care of the NBT Bank, Richfield Springs.
