Obituary

NEWPORT - Theodore H. King Ted age 65 of West Street formerly of North Creek Road, Little Falls passed away on Monday morning May 1, 2006 in Faxton-St Lukes Memorial Hospital, New Hartford. He had the comfort of his loving family at his side. He was born on August 16, 1940 in Herkimer, son of the late William T. and Evelyn Davis King. A lifelong area resident he was a graduate of West Canada Valley Central School with the class of 1958. Upon completing high school he entered the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1962. Ted was a New York State Trooper and had served in both Troop T and Troop D. He retired in 1986 after twenty years of service. His last employment was with Herkimer County as Director of Weights and Measures. On June 22, 1974 he was united in marriage with the former Diane Lenarcic in the Crum Creek United Methodist Church. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer where as a youngster he served as an Altar Boy and was a member of Crowley-Barnum American Legion Post # 25 Mohawk. Ted was an avid bowler, golfer, fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed spending his summers at his camp on the St Lawrence River with his family and friends. Surviving are his loving wife of thirty-one years, Diane, one son Bill and his wife Lynn King of Newport, a step-son, David Myszkowski and his wife Kelly of Little Falls, two brothers and their wives, Bill and Jane King of Valley Cottage, Dick and Ginny King of Milan, two sisters, Delores Swiger of Herkimer, Mary Hart and her husband Larry of Nashville, TN, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Besides his parents a sister Esther King preceded him in death. Funeral service with Holy Eucharist will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am in Christ Episcopal Church Herkimer. The Reverend Paul Bailey, Rector will officiate. Interment service with military honors provided by the United States Air Force will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be present to receive relatives and friends in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer on Wednesday from 3:00 until 7:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made with Memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or the Herkimer County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Teds family would like to thank Dr. Butala, Michelle, all of the C.C.U. nurses and aides, especially Brian Gleesen and everyone else who cared for him at Faxton-St Lukes Hospital for their care and compassion shown Ted and his family during this very difficult time. A very special thank you to someone who showed daily the true meaning of friendship, Don Fariel. Your caring and compassion for Ted will never be forgotten.
