Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Theodore Vincent Kublin Jr. age 84, formerly of Hogsback Road passed away on Tuesday afternoon October 19, 2010, in the Otsego Manor, Cooperstown. He was born on October 11, 1926, in New York City, son of the late Theodore V. and Theresa Kroll Kublin. Ted was raised in Little Neck where he attended P.S. # 41 and was a graduate of Newtown High School in Bayside, NY. On May 30, 1953 he was united in marriage with Evelyn A. Eifert in Bayside. They shared a loving and devoted union of fifty-two years until her passing on December 13, 2005. Teds life was a true example of Protect and Serve. An honorably discharged veteran of World War II he answered the call of his country in 1943 by enlisting in the US Marine Corps where he served in the Pacific Theatre. After his military service he joined the New York State Police where he served from 1947 to 1949. He then joined the New York City Fire Department and retired in 1975 as a Battalion Chief. Mr. Kublin was a member of the New York State Police Association and the New York City Fire Chiefs Association. To those who knew Ted, they will always remember his straight forward and honest personality. Any conversation with him was direct and to the point but yet you always had a feeling of warmth and friendship when you were with him. He will be greatly missed. Surviving are his six children, Nancy Brendecker and her husband Hermann of Germany, Theodore V. Kublin III and his wife Beverly of Huntsville, AL, Thomas Kublin and his wife Luann of Raleigh, NC, Robert Kublin of Jamesport, LI, Susan Kublin-Richards and her husband Michael of Burlington, VT, Barbara Kublin-Weiner and her husband Steven, along with seven grandchildren. Funeral service will be on Saturday at 11:00 am in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs. The Reverend Terence Healy, Pastor of Saint Joseph the Worker Church, Richfield Springs will officiate. Interment will take place in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, Long Island, NY. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Saturday morning one hour prior to the funeral service. (10:00 to 11:00 am).
