Obituary

ILION - Thomas J. Feeney, age 82, of John Guy Prindle Apartments died on Saturday, March 11, 2006 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home. He was born on July 15, 1923 in Little Falls, a son of the late Jeremiah and Delia Hartman Feeney. A lifelong area resident he graduated from St. Marys Academy, Little Falls and attended Utica College. On July 15, 1941 he enlisted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged on February 23, 1944. In 1946 he married the former Marjorie McClellan. She now resides in Mass. For many years he worked as an auto mechanic for Schultz Garage in Ilion, retiring in 1990. He had a strong believe in God and was of the Catholic faith. In his leisure time he enjoyed making model airplanes and buying and selling antiques. He was considered the family historian, recording the family genealogy and was proud of his membership in the Sons of the American Revolution. He was a member of American Legion Post #31 of Little Falls, and the Herkimer County Historical Society. Tom will be remembered as a gentle man, with a reserved nature, a true friend who would lend a helping hand when needed. He is survived by two daughters Marianne Ramos of Chelsea, MA, Susan Morris and her husband Paul of Norristown, PA, two grandchildren Jose Cintron and Tania Ramos of MA, one brother Gerald Feeney of Herkimer, several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents and step father Charles Upright, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Feeney and Charles Upright. Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. Reverend Mark Cunningham, Pastor of St. Francis deSales Parish, Herkimer will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, East Herkimer. Calling hours will be in the funeral home from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Memorial donation may be made the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
