RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Todd A. Travis, 40, of Elm Street, passed away Tuesday evening, Oct. 24, 2006, at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, after a short illness. He had peace and comfort of his loving family at his side.
He was born June 12, 1966, in Newburg, son of Robert Travis, and the late Helen King Wirsch. Todd was raised in Newburg and was a graduate of Salesians' Junior Seminary in Goshen.
Todd moved to Richfield Springs with his family in 1990, and in 1999, he met his wife to be Amanda Welsh. They were united in marriage on Aug. 18, 2000, in Oneonta. For three years, he was employed as a house manager for the Otsego ARC and in 2000, went to work in the same capacity for Homer Folks Home in Oneonta.
Todd had a strong belief in God and lived a devoted Catholic life. He attended Saint Mary's Church in Oneonta. He had a love for the outdoors and nature. In his leisure time, you would find him playing golf, fishing, camping or riding his motorcycle.
He was happiest when he was surrounded by his many friends and family, especially his children. He will always be remembered as a loving, caring and hopeful person. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his devoted wife, Amanda; a son, Joshua James Travis; two daughters, Jennifer Rose Travis and Autumn Elizabeth Travis, all of Richfield Springs; his father, Robert Travis of Newburg; one brother, Clancy and his wife, Shannon Travis, of Schuyler Lake; a sister, Robin Travis and her companion, Jay Brown, of Richfield Springs; two half brothers, Matthew Munau of Pontiac, Mich., and James T. Mott, and a half sister, Jennifer Perguino, both of Newburg; his maternal grandmother, Helen King of Beacon; three nieces, Brianna Travis, Maggie Travis, both of Schuyler Lake, and Robin Ann Cronin of Richfield Springs; and several cousins.
Funeral from J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs, at 9:30 a.m. Monday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Saint Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs. The Rev. Joseph Benintende, Pastor of Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Oneonta, will officiate. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph's Cemetery.
The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Sunday.
