Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Verne Horace Moxley, age 90, of County Highway #24, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday evening July 27, 2004 in his home. He was born on May 22, 1914 in East Randolph, VT, son of the late Carl and Eliza Davis Moxley. Verne was raised in East Randolph and graduated from high school in Randolph, VT. On September 5, 1937 he married the former Eunice M. Hutchinson at the Moxley Farm in East Randolph. Verne first worked as a truck driver for logging companies in Randolph. His job brought him through Richfield Springs on Route 20. He liked the area so much that he decided that he would like to live and raise his family here. He worked for Remington Rand, Sperry Rand and UNIVAC in Ilion and Utica. Mr. Moxley had a close relationship with God and faithfully attended the Richfield Springs Bible Church. He was a friend to many and will never be forgotten. Surviving are his beloved wife of sixty-six years Eunice, a son, Fred C. and his wife Janet Moxley of Shippensberg, PA, two daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Arthur Christman of Astoria, Queens, Rita and Gary Dawson of Cortland, six grandchildren, Laura and her husband Bruce Heberer, Scott and his wife Kim Scriven all of Johnstown, Danielle and her husband Sean Campbell of Gloversville, Terrence Dawson of Cortland, Tyler and Sarah Moxley of Shippensberg, PA. Three great grandchildren, Joshua Heberer, Eric Heberer and Wesley Scriven, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents a brother, Fordyce Moxley and a sister, Kathryn Stone precede him in death. Funeral service will be on Saturday at 10:00 am in the Richfield Springs Bible Church with the Reverend Alan Miller, Pastor officiating. Mr. Moxley will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery immediately after the church service. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Richfield Springs Bible Church, Catskill Area Hospice or the Richfield Springs Emergency Rescue Squad. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
