HERKIMER-Veronica Mary Rivers age 91 of Willis Avenue, passed away on Sunday afternoon March 2, 2008 in Mary Imogene BassettHospital, Cooperstown. She was born on December 18, 1916 in Middleville, daughter of the late Paul J. and Mary Bryzjenski Zacek. A lifelong area resident she was a graduate ofRome School for the Deaf. On November 17, 1941 she married Leo W. Rivers in Saint johnsChurch in Newport. They shared a loving and devoted union of sixty-three years until his passing on February 3, 2005. Mrs. Rivers was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed sewing, baking and cooking. Her family always came first and foremost. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will truly missed. Surviving are her son, Joseph Rivers and his wife Joyce of Herkimer, two sisters, Irene DeJohn of FL, Stella Vincent of OR, four grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Leo she was preceded in death by four brothers, John, William, Leonand Mark Zacek, a sister, Virginia Roberts. Funeral service will be on Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Ann Zimmerman will officiate. Interment in Calvary Cemetery will take place later this spring at a time to be announced. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday two hours prior to the funeral service.5:00 until 7:00 pm.
