EAST HERKIMER-Vincent L. Grubner Bud age 80 of Laurel Avenue, entered into eternal rest on Thursday afternoon August 26, 2004 in Valley Health Services Inc. Herkimer.
He was born on December 17, 1923 in Little Falls, son of the late Vensel J. and Helen Bellinger Grubner. A lifelong Herkimer resident he was educated in Herkimer schools. Mr. Grubner was a veteran of World War II. He served with the US Marine Corps, was a Purple Heart recipient and was honorably discharged in 1945 attaining the rank of Corporal.
On December 20, 1947 he married the former Alta C. Shaver in the First United Methodist Church Herkimer. A loving and devoted union of nearly fifty-five years she preceded him in death December 8, 2002.
Vincent was employed as a bridge superintendent with the New York State Department of Transportation, retiring in 1978.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer-Little Falls and was an exempt member of the East Herkimer Volunteer Fire Department. A warm and outgoing man, he was a friend to many and will never be forgotten.
Surviving him are two sons, Darryl Grubner of East Herkimer, Jeffrey and his wife Sherry Grubner of Port St. Lucie, FL, a brother, Paul F. and his wife Marion of East Herkimer, two sisters, Grace B. McGuire of East Herkimer, Barbara Sanders of Steens, MS, one granddaughter, Shannon and her husband William Bailey, two great grandchildren, Gage Isaac Bailey and Savannah Madison, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Beside his parents and wife Alta, an infant daughter Susan Grubner and two brothers, Warren and John Grubner predeceased him.
A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Wrightson Tongue, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer-Little Falls will officiate. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the East Herkimer Volunteer Fire Department or the Alzheimers Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home
