EAST HERKIMER-Violet M. Franklin, age 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, July 25, 2018, in her home. She was born on August 29, 1933,in Oneida, daughter of the late Thomas and Reva Clark Franklin. Violet was raised and educated in Oneida and in 1980 moved to East Herkimer from Bennington, VT. She had a strong belief in God was of the Methodist faith. She was a member of the North East Vietnam Veterans Association and the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 827 in Herkimer. Violet leaves her longtime friend Richard Sonny Blum of East Herkimer. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Carolyn Schmidtka and Hazel Miller. A graveside funeral service will take place on Tuesday July 31stat 11:00 am in Oak Hill Cemetery with the Reverend George Longway officiating.
