HERKIMER-Virginia T. Casler age 65 Protection Avenueformerly of Litchfield passed away on Wednesday morning December 24, 2008 in Mary ImogeneBassett Hospital,Cooperstown. She was born on November 6, 1943 in Cooperstown, daughter of the late Alan and Arlene Darling Thomas. Virginiawas raised in Milford and was a graduate of Milford High School. She furthered her education graduating from SUNY Oneonta with a Bachelors Degree in Teaching. On April 21, 1970 she was united in marriage with E. Richard Casler in the Federated Church, West Winfield. They made their home in Litchfield until 2005 when they moved to Herkimer. Mrs. Casler was a school teacher in Cooperstown, Mount Markham and more recently in BOCES, Herkimer. She retired in 1992. In her leisure time Virginia enjoyed singing and sang with the community singers at the Federated Churchin West Winfield. To all those who knew her, they will remember her warm smile and friendly manner. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are her husband of thirty-eight years E. Richard Dick Casler, two sons and their wives, Dennis and Trina Casler of Norfolk, VA, Daryl and Sheila Casler of Clinton, two brothers, Alan Thomas and his wife Pinky of IL, Larry Thomas of Warner Robbins, GA, four grandchildren, Joslyn and Catherine Casler, Mallory and Mason Casler several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Thomas. At Mrs. Caslers request funeral service and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
