Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Virginia McMahon Marzeski, age 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening March 10, 2015 in the Otsego Manor, Cooperstown. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side. She was born on January 30, 1927, in Herkimer, daughter of the late William and Irene Beauchamp McMahon. Virginia was raised in Herkimer and was a graduate of Herkimer High School. On July 3, 1948 she was united in marriage with Joseph Marzeski in Saint Francis deSales Church, Herkimer. It was that year that she and her husband made their home in Richfield Springs and have remained there since. For seventeen years Mrs. Marzeski worked as a senior examiner for the Otsego County Department of Social Services. She retired in 1985. Virginia had a strong belief in God and was a member of Saint Joseph Worker RC Church in Richfield Springs. In her leisure time she was an avid bridge player and had belonged to two bridge clubs. To all who knew her she will always be remembered as a caring, giving and helpful lady with a gift of charm. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family, especially her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sorely missed. Surviving her are her devoted husband of sixty-six years, Joseph, three sons, James Marzeski and his wife Rebecca, William Marzeski all of Richfield Springs, Thomas Marzeski and his wife Charlene Of Cazenovia, one sister, Lucille McMahon of Richfield Springs, ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Mass for Mrs. Marzeski will be held on Monday at 10:00 am in Saint Joseph the Worker RC Church, Richfield Springs. The Reverend Bernard Osai Ampong, pastor, will officiate. There are no calling hours. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation or the charity of your choice. Envelopes will be available at the church service. Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs.
