HERKIMER-Virginia Volo age 79 formerly of 346 Eastern Avenue passed away on Saturday morning August 4, 2001 in the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion. She was born on October 17, 1921 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Charles and Nellie Wejciechowski. A lifelong Herkimer resident, she was educated in Herkimer Schools. On September 2, 1939 she married Leborio "Lebo" Volo in the Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer. A blessed union of forty-six years until his passing on September 28, 1993. For a period of six years she worked for the General Electric Company in Utica. She was a homemaker and mother who loved to knit and be surrounded by her friends and family. She had a real love for the out of doors and camping. She is survived by two sons and their wives; Robert and Patricia Volo of Herkimer, Richard Eugene and Linda Volo of Hicksville, Long Island, a sister; Emily Dychko of Herkimer, five grandchildren; Morra Volo of Charlotte, Lisa Maney of Hicksville, Brett and his wife Joanne Volo of Long Island, Kyle Volo and Stacey Volo of Hicksville; one great-granddaughter, Samantha Maney of Hicksville, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in FENNER FUNERAL HOME INC., 115 Court Street, Herkimer with the Reverend William Otis, past of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Monday (today) 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Memorial donation may be made to the Salvation Army or the Mohawk Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
