HERKIMER - Walter C. Dychko age 67 of Pullman Streetpassed away unexpectedly on Thursday afternoon July 31, 2008 in his home.
He was born on November 7, 1940 in Herkimer, son of the late John andEmily Wojciechowski Dychko. A lifelong Herkimer resident he was a graduate of Herkimer High Schoolwith the class of 1958. He furthered his education graduating from Mohawk Valley Technical Institute where he received an Associates Degree in Mechanical Design.
On November 25, 1961 he was united in marriage with the former Linda Klossner in the First United Methodist Church Herkimer.
Mr. Dychko had worked for the General Electric Company until 1970 when he became a independent contract worker. Among his accomplishments as a contract worker he was one of the first to develop the CAD systems and was involved with the designing of the cameras that went on the United Statesfirst moon mission. He retired in 2002.
Walter was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Herkimer. He enjoyed extensive traveling around the country with many trips to Las Vegas and two years ago a trip to Australia. In his leisure time he found great relaxation being at home and working on his computer.
To all who knew him they will remember a down to earth, sincere man. Any conversation him was frank and to the point but you could always feel a sense of warmth and friendship whenever you were with him. He will be missed by his many friends and family.
Surviving are his wife of forty-six years Linda, two daughters and their husbands, Beverly and Scott Stowell of Malta, Melody and Brett Couchman of Herkimer, two grandchildren, Parker Morris and Melia Couchman both of Herkimer, two nieces, Jennifer Klossner and Brenda Guirastente, an aunt, Virginia Dychko and several cousins from the Dychko and Volo famlies along with friends and neighbors especially Brian and Kelly Tero.
Funeral service will be on Monday at 2:00 PM in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. His son-in-law, the Reverend Brett Couchman will officiate. Interment will follow in Mountain ViewMemorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Monday one hour prior to the funeral service (1:00 until 2:00 pm).
Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
