Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Wanda Teachout age 82 of Johnson Street, passed away on Friday morning July 21, 2006 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion She was born on May 19, 1924 in Cooperstown, daughter of the late Harry and Maude Snedeker Thayer. A lifelong area resident she was raised and educated in Cooperstown. On June 6, 1943 she was united in marriage with Richard J. Teachout in Cooperstown. For twenty-four years they owned and operated the Teachout Dairy Farm in Monticello, retiring in 1970. While living in Monticello she was an active member of the Home Bureau. In 1971 they moved to Richfield Springs where they have resided since. Mrs. Teachout had a strong belief in God and was of the Baptist faith. In her leisure time she enjoyed doing word circle puzzles. To all who knew her they will remember that she was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be truly missed. Surviving are her loving husband of sixty-three years Richard, one son, Woodrow and his wife Joan Teachout of Schuyler Lake, two daughters, Mary Ellen Marriott of West Winfield, Patricia and her husband Timothy Tehan of Ilion, a brother Durward and his wife Audrey of Oneonta, one sister, Polly and her husband Donald Knapp of Elk Creek, nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Woodrow, Wendell and Harry Thayer and her son Richard J. Teachout Jr. in 1966 Funeral service will be on Tuesday at 2:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home; 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. Pastor Alan Miller of the Richfield Springs Bible Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Alzheimers Disease and Related Disorders. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
