Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS- Ward Perry Armstrong, 91, of Chyle Road,died on Wednesday morning, January 17, 2001 in Folts Home Herkimer, On January 19, 1909, he was born on the family farm, in thetown of Warren, son of the late Perry and Alice Burke Armstrong. A lifelongRichfield Springs resident he graduated from Richfield Springs High School. OnFebruary 5, 1944 he married Louise McRorie in the Epworth Methodist Church,Matamoras, PA. His lifework was dairy farming. He took great pride in farmingand was the fifth generation to own and operate the family farm until hisretirement in 1985. Ward was a member of the Federated Church in Jordanville, aformer member of the Richfield Springs Grange where he served on localcommittee, state and the national level, a member and leader of the 4-H Club inRichfield Springs. Surviving are is wife of 56 years, Alice; two sons and theirwives, Glenn and Marcia Armstrong of Jordanville, William and Barbara Armstrongof Newfield; one sister, Edna Snyder of CA; three granddaughters Diane Lauzun ofLansing, Megan Clark of Norwalk CT, Karen Armstrong of Ithaca, and astep-grandson James Lauzun of Lansing. Arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 WestJames Street, Richfield Springs.
